Your pool history stays with you
This policy explains what Pool Forecast stores in your browser, what it sends to provide requested services, and what limited anonymous product and support metrics it keeps.
1. Information stored on your device
Pool Forecast uses browser storage for the pool name you choose, unit preferences, location and timezone, pool dimensions and installation details, cover and heater settings, temperature readings, issued forecasts, cached weather, calibration results, Govee device settings, and the Govee API key you enter.
CSV files are read and mapped in your browser; the files and imported readings are not uploaded to the Pool Forecast server. Browser session storage is used to avoid repeatedly counting the same anonymous page, guide, setup, forecast, or support interaction during one browser session.
2. Weather and location requests
When you search for a location, the search text is sent directly from your browser to Open-Meteo's geocoding service. When you request a forecast or historical weather, your saved latitude and longitude, requested dates, and weather fields are sent directly from your browser to Open-Meteo. Open-Meteo processes those requests under its own privacy practices.
3. Optional Govee connection
If you connect Govee, the browser sends your API key and selected device identifiers through a fixed-purpose Pool Forecast relay to Govee Cloud so the application can list compatible devices and read current temperature state. The relay handles the key transiently and is designed not to save it in the application database, logs, or cache. The connection is read-only.
Govee receives and processes those requests under its own terms and privacy practices. You can disconnect the device or forget the saved key from Pool settings.
4. Optional support and sponsorship
Stripe hosts payment checkout and the customer portal. Payment-card details are provided directly to Stripe and are not received or stored by Pool Forecast. Stripe may collect contact, billing, transaction, device, and network information under its own privacy policy.
Verified Stripe webhooks provide Pool Forecast with nonpersonal support records used for aggregate reporting: support tier, one-time or monthly cadence, gross US-dollar amount, payment day, Stripe event identifier, and subscription identifier and status. Pool Forecast does not store supporter names, email addresses, payment details, pool profiles, locations, or IP addresses in its support database.
If you email about sponsorship or another question, your email provider and the recipient's email provider process the message. The message is used to respond and maintain any resulting business correspondence.
5. Anonymous product and support metrics
Pool Forecast records anonymous aggregate counts for homepage and guide sessions, guide forecast-button clicks, first-time setup starts, completed first forecasts, support-section views, successfully created checkouts, and verified payments. Events are grouped by UTC day and an allowlisted page, guide, button location, or support tier. These figures are private to the owner and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
The metrics request does not include a pool profile, location, temperature, Govee information, name, email, user identifier, advertising identifier, or full referring URL. Pool Forecast does not add IP addresses or user-agent strings to its application database. The database retains aggregate records until they are deleted as part of administration or service maintenance. Because events are not linked to an identifiable public user, Pool Forecast generally cannot retrieve or delete a particular visitor's aggregate event.
6. Hosting and ordinary network data
The hosting, security, browser, and network providers needed to deliver the site may process standard technical information such as IP address, request time, requested page, user agent, and security signals. Their handling of that information is governed by their own policies and operational retention practices. Pool Forecast does not add this information to its application database.
7. Your choices
- Use Pool Forecast without connecting Govee or making a support payment.
- Clear temperature history while keeping pool settings, or reset the pool to remove the Pool Forecast profile and Govee key from this browser.
- Clear this site's browser storage through your browser settings.
- Manage or cancel monthly support through Stripe's customer portal.
- Contact the owner about an email or sponsorship conversation.
8. Security and retention
Pool Forecast uses reasonable technical measures intended to limit sensitive-data handling, including same-origin requests, restricted-purpose relays, hosted Stripe checkout, webhook verification, and sanitized errors. No system can guarantee absolute security. Data kept in browser storage remains until you remove it, the browser removes it, or you reset the application.
9. Children
Pool Forecast is a general pool-planning tool and is not directed to children under 13. Children should not operate pools, heaters, covers, or related equipment without appropriate adult supervision.
10. Policy changes and contact
This policy may change as the application evolves. A material revision will appear here with a new effective date. Privacy questions or requests may be sent to rtsoliday@gmail.com.
