Connect the live sensor or bring its history
Use a Govee API key for an automatic reading every 15 minutes while Pool Forecast is open, or export historical readings from Govee Home and import the CSV. You can use either path or both.
Get and connect a Govee API key
- Open Govee Home.
Sign in to the account that owns the thermometer you want to use.
- Open Settings.
Select Apply for API Key, then submit the information Govee requests.
- Copy the issued key.
Keep it private. Pool Forecast needs the complete key to discover your compatible devices.
- Connect it in Pool Forecast.
Open Pool settings → Govee thermometer, paste the key, select Connect, choose the device, then select Test & use.
Under Govee's policy effective May 15, 2026, generating a new API key immediately disables the account's previous active key. Update any other service that uses the old key.
Read Govee's API-key policy ↗Pool Forecast lists only devices whose Govee API response includes a temperature-sensor capability. The connection is read-only. The key stays in this browser and is not logged, cached, or stored by the Pool Forecast server.
Export history from Govee Home
- Open the thermometer in Govee Home.
Wait until the history graph finishes loading so the selected range has data.
- Select Export Data.
Govee places this option at the bottom of the graph page.
- Choose where to send it.
Enter an email address or select send to account email.
- Choose the interval and date range.
Select the sampling interval, then a date range that contains readings.
- Send and download the CSV.
Tap the send icon in the upper-right corner. Open Govee's email and save the CSV; extract it first if your device downloads it as an archive.
Map the Govee CSV in Pool Forecast
- Return to Pool Forecast and open History.
- Select Import CSV and choose the downloaded file.
- Select the timestamp column and the water-temperature column.
- Choose the CSV's Celsius or Fahrenheit unit and review the preview.
- Select Import readings.
Times with an explicit offset use that offset. Times without one use the pool timezone saved in Pool settings. The CSV is read in your browser and is not uploaded to Pool Forecast.
